Dear Stranded: orientation edition

Ask and you shall receive…

Dear Stranded,

I’m currently in engineering, but I’m miserable. I don’t think this path is working out for me, and I really want to pursue my passion of studying anthropology instead. I’m afraid I will regret my decision, though – I have put so much work into my degree already. What should I do?

Woman in a dilSTEMa

Dear Woman in a dilSTEMa,

You should follow your dreams! Engineering is a snoozefest and anthropology sounds cool or whatever. Your degree could give you something to talk about postgrad when you’re whipping up an iced matcha latte with oat milk for a university student with dyed hair and a Charli XCX tattoo who’s probably also an anthropology major (side note: we should look into this pyramid scheme).

Best of luck,

Stranded

Dear Stranded,

I’m a first-year and I figured out a way to structure my schedule so that all my classes are on one day. I thought it was pretty genius, but my friends are concerned. Should I change it?

Acorn Expert

Dear Acorn Expert,

Sounds like a great idea! While you’re at it, it might be a great time to schedule all your meals for one day so you can forgo eating for the rest of the week. You could even have a “sleeping” day and get all that out of the way so you have more free time. Or maybe you could schedule your second, third, and fourth-year classes for the rest of the week and knock out your degree in just one year!

Godspeed,

Stranded

Dear Stranded,

I’m a fourth-year political science student, and I’ve been telling everyone I’ve met since my first year that I’m considering law school. The clock is ticking, and if I’m going to law school, I need to start applying soon. I don’t really want to be a lawyer, but I still want other people to know that I would be smart enough to be a lawyer if I actually wanted to be a lawyer. Thoughts?

Dear Reverse Elle Woods,

Don’t.

Your honour,
